Can dogs eat carrots?
Yes, in moderation Yes. Raw or cooked carrots are a cheap, low calorie treat, and cold ones can soothe teething puppies.
Why
Carrots give vitamin A, potassium and fibre for very few calories: 50 g (1.8 oz) of raw baby carrots has about 18 kcal (UC Davis). AKC notes some vets recommend cold or frozen carrots for teething puppies. RSPCA Australia warns against roughly cut vegetables, so size matters.
How to give it safely
Wash or peel, and cut into bite-sized pieces to prevent choking. Raw or plain cooked both work.
This is general guidance, your vet sets the actual schedule. Puppies, small dogs and dogs with a health condition can react to smaller amounts. Check with your own vet before changing what your dog eats.
