Privacy policy

The short version

The calculators and schedules run in your browser and send nothing to a Puplr server. The My dog hub is the one part of the site with an account: it stores what you enter about your dog so the plan is there when you come back. There is no advertising on the site and no advertising tracking. Puplr uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies or personal identifiers. The other third parties involved are the stores and partners you reach by clicking a shopping or partner link, described below.

My dog accounts

If you create a My dog account, Puplr stores your email address, a hashed password, your country, the details you enter about each dog (name, date of birth, breed, size, sex, desexing status, weights, a photo if you add one, and which care items you mark done or skipped), your email choices (with the wording you agreed to and when), and your device's time zone so the Monday note arrives on Monday morning where you are. This is held by Supabase, our database and authentication provider, in the United States, and is protected so that only your account can read it. See supabase.com/privacy.

Dog photos are stored at an address that is not listed anywhere but is readable by anyone who has it, so do not upload a photo you would not want seen.

Puplr sends account emails (a password reset). Nothing else is sent unless you tick the box asking for the weekly note, and then only after you confirm your address from a link we email you. The note comes once a week with what is due for your dog and a tip for their age and breed. If you ticked the box, every third note also carries one clearly labelled partner pick: a partner link Puplr may earn a commission on, or one of Puplr's own tools. Puplr sends these itself and never gives your address to a partner. Every email has a one tap unsubscribe link and a link to your email preferences, where the pick can be switched off on its own, and the Account panel of the hub does the same. Emails are delivered by Resend, our email provider, which receives your email address and the content of each message (your dog's name, breed, age and what is due) for that purpose only. You can delete your account from the Account panel. That removes every dog, photo, weight and record immediately and permanently.

Name suggestions and votes

If you suggest a puppy name, Puplr stores the name, the meaning or story you give, and your email address if you choose to add one. The email is only used to thank you if the name is added, and is never shown or shared. To limit spam, a one way scrambled version of your connection address is kept for a day and then deleted; it cannot be turned back into the address. Ask for a suggestion to be removed at any time using the contact below.

Up and down votes on names work the same way: each vote is stored against a one way scrambled version of your connection address and browser, so one person gets one vote, and nothing that identifies you is kept.

What Puplr itself stores

Puplr uses your browser's local storage for a small number of conveniences:

• Your selected country, so you do not have to pick it on every page.
• Your favourite puppy names.
• Which checklist items you have ticked.
• Which names you voted up or down, so the buttons show your vote.
• The country guess described below, for 30 days, and whether you closed the note that comes with it.

That data lives in your browser on your device. It is not transmitted to Puplr, it is not readable by us, and clearing your browser data deletes it. Dates of birth, weights and any other value you type into a tool are held in the page only while it is open and are never stored or transmitted.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes the technical information your browser sends when it requests a page, including your IP address, user agent and the page requested, and may retain it for a limited period for security and operational purposes. Country detection

Until you pick a country yourself, Puplr guesses it so the schedules, units and shopping links start in the right place. Your browser asks Puplr's server once, and the server reads the two letter country code that Vercel adds to each request from your IP address (the x-vercel-ip-country header). It sends that code back to your browser and keeps nothing: no log, no record. Your browser stores the answer for 30 days. Picking a country in the header always wins over the guess.

Analytics

Puplr counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not identify you or follow you across sites. Puplr sees totals only, such as which pages are read and which sites sent visitors. See vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy.

Advertising

There is none. Puplr serves no display advertising, sets no advertising cookies and loads no advertising script. Nothing on this site asks you for consent to tracking, because there is no tracking to consent to.

Affiliate links

Affiliate links: Puplr may earn a commission at no cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, Puplr earns from qualifying purchases. Shopping links appear in the kit boxes, beside items in the My dog hub and in single partner rows, and are marked with rel="sponsored" in the page source. Clicking one takes you to a site Puplr does not run, and that site's own privacy policy applies from then on:

• Amazon. Amazon links go straight to the Amazon store for your country with Puplr's Amazon Associates tag in the address. Amazon may set cookies so that a purchase is credited to Puplr. Amazon's privacy notice governs what Amazon does with your data once you are on its site.
• MaxBounty partner offers. The JustAnswer and Petlibro rows pass through a MaxBounty tracking link first, which records the click and may set a cookie, then forward you to the merchant, which may set its own cookies to credit a sign up or purchase. JustAnswer's and Petlibro's privacy policies apply to anything you give them.
• Other pet retailers. Links to Pet Circle, Petbarn, Chewy, Petco, PetSmart, Pets at Home and PetSmart Canada are plain search links with no Puplr tracking. Those stores may still set their own cookies, as any website can.

Puplr receives aggregate reports only: numbers of clicks, qualifying purchases or sign ups, and the commission on them. It does not receive your name, email address, postal address, payment details or the contents of your basket.

Puplr participates in the Amazon Associates Program (amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.ca and amazon.com.au) and the MaxBounty affiliate network.

Your rights

Without a My dog account, Puplr holds no personal data about you, so there is nothing to export or delete on request; to remove what is stored locally, clear site data for this domain in your browser settings. With an account, you can see everything Puplr holds on the hub itself and delete it from the Account panel; for a copy of it, use the contact below. For data held by a retailer, partner or affiliate network you clicked through to, contact that business directly. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom you retain your rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR against those parties as controllers of that data.

Children

Puplr is a general audience site about dog care and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
